Oregon Cascades – 2018

The wonders of Bend never cease!

After amazing sights like the crater lakes, the obsidian lava flow and the many cinder cones my son Barry and I could hardly believe our eyes when we saw something else we thought had gone extinct like the volcanoes. No, not dinosaurs, exactly. We spotted a Blockbuster Video on 3rd Street in Bend. Curiously enough, a few days after we got home I heard a CBC Radio interview with the manager of the Bend, Oregon, Blockbuster. She proudly proclaimed Bend as a the official home to the last Blockbuster video still operating in the US!

btw – you can rent “The Godfather” for 99 cents. Bend, you rock!

Hell’s Canyon – 2016

One of the hightlights of the 2018 camp and ride was when an Aussie couple, on a 3 to 5 year adventure ride, joined our Hell’s Canyon camp for a couple days. Chantelle and Todd left Australia in March 2018. They flew to Vancouver with their two Postie Bikes “Mabel” and “Rosie” (ex Australia Post Honda CT110s). They had ridden north to Alaska and then back down through Canada to the US. When they left camp they were headed south for the Mexican border and Central America.

Princeton BC – June 2015

The group organized two camp and ride events for the summer of 2015. The first one was in June at Princeton BC. Gizmo (Otto) was kind enough to allow us to use of his property as a base camp.  As JimBob put it “We couldn’t have asked for a better location or a better host”.

Jim Bob, Clipper (Bill) and I travelled together. This was the first ride where we Canadians outnumbered our American friends. Brothers Jack and Neal came all way from California and Dave came up from Seattle.

Death Valley – March 2012

Death Valley 2012

We met up near the ghost town of Ballarat in the Panamint Valley west of Death Valley. There were between 11-13 riders, and many different varieties of RV’s. Most were riding CT’s, but there were also TWs & Lifans. We had riders from California, British Columbia, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
After some great rides including Goler Wash we moved camp to Stove Pipe Wells. On the trek north we had a third camp and ride at Leslie Gulch in southest Oregon.
